Classic Field Recordings

Het Bluebird-label werd in 1933 opgericht als een budgetlabel door RCA Victor. Ofschoon het enkele jaren later opnames van alle grote jazz- en bluesmuzikanten zou maken, was er ten tijde van de depressie weinig geld. De opnames die op deze box te horen zijn, werden van 1933 tot 1940 door mobiele studios gemaakt in de Carolinas, Texas en Louisiana van plaatselijke country-artiesten. Het zou het begin worden van een schitterende collectie. Alle opnames op deze cd komen rechtstreeks van 78-toeren-platen (vandaar de uitstekende geluidskwaliteit) en laten ons artiesten horen als Four Pickled Peppers, Pine Ridge Boys en vele anderen. Een feest om al deze artiesten te beluisteren en te ontdekken.
