The Inquisitor

On New Year's Eve, cops Gallien (Lino Ventura, Witness in the City) and Belmont (Guy Marchand, Loulou) interrogate Martinaud (Michel Serrault, Deadly Circuit), a wealthy lawyer, for the rape and murder of two young girls. With inconclusive evidence, they must intensify their interrogation, but Martinaud is an expert under questioning. Their investigation becomes further complicated when Martinaud's wife (Romy Schneider) gives her statement. A gripping thriller with intense performances, The Inquisitor was a critical and commercial success on release, nominated for 8 César Awards, winning Best Screenplay and acting prizes for Serrault and Marchand.
