Caravaggio

Stylised biopic by experimental English film-maker Derek Jarman about the life of early Renaissance Italian painter Caravaggio. When Caravaggio (Nigel Terry) uses street fighter Ranuccio Tomassoni (Sean Bean) as a model for his erotic paintings of St John an attraction develops between the pair. However, Ranuccio's partner Lena (Tilda Swinton) also becomes romantically linked to Caravaggio and soon jealously and passion result in a tragic ending for all involved. The cast also features Michael Gough, Robbie Coltrane and Dexter Fletcher.
