Roger Moore stars as the eponymous sleuth in this made-for-TV crime drama. With his faithful companion Dr. John Watson (Patrick MacNee) in tow, Sherlock Holmes travels to New York City where his nemesis Professor Moriarty (John Huston) has pulled off an audacious bank robbery. While the duo reacquaint themselves with their old friend Irene Adler (Charlotte Rampling), Moriarty kidnaps her son and uses him to blackmail Holmes into not taking on the case. Undeterred, the detective resolves to get the boy back and solve the puzzling mystery himself.
