It is fair to say that Rainbow were the major rock band of the late 70s early 80s with three Top Ten Singles Since You've Been Gone 6 September 79 All Night Long 5 February 80 I Surrender 3 January 81 and five Top Ten albums On Stage 7 July 77 7 Long Live Rock 'N' Roll 7 May 78 Down to Earth 6 August 69 Difficult to Cure 3 February 81 Straight Between the Eyes 5 April 82 Rainbow was the brainchild of Ritchie Blackmore after the demise of Deep Purple and the new band also included Roger Glover,then, and incidentally again, bass player in the current Deep Purple . Roger also doubled up as producer of the later albums and also writer of All Night Long,one of the bands biggest hits as indicated above.
