Like in some old convertible, with that flair from the seventies movies, they ride from one town to the other, one smokey place to another, from the first record to the next. If Towns Van Zandt and Emmylou Harris - after they sang together 'If I Need You' on Texas Rain - had decided to record an album, it would have sounded just like the On Tours debut. Band On Tour is true, important successors of the grand tradition of country-rock duets, with Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris on one end and Bonnie Prince Billy and Cheyenne Marie Mize on the other.
