Re-release of Good News!, the first and only Cast Recording of the 1920's hit musical comedy, by B.G DeSylva, Lew Brown and Ray Henderson, the writers of a string of hit topical musicals in the 1920's and 30's, of which Good News! is considered the pinnacle.

TER's recording with members of the original cast of the 1993 Music Theatre of Witchita production, beautifully captures the fun and frivolity of the musical and gives the listener a great feel for the show and an affection for the period.

The musical typifies TER's long established history of recording the unsung classics of the musical theatre genre, and Good News! is one of those lesser known shows that is destined for an enthusiastic reception when it finally arrives on Broadway, containing as it does, the hit songs: "Button Up Your Overcoat", "The Best Things In Life are Free", "You're the Cream in My Coffee", "Keep Your Sunny Side Up", "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries". Featuring the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Craig Barna, this recording uses the Digital Dolby Surround Encoding system.

The songwriting team of Ray Henderson, Buddy De Sylva and Lew Brown are hardly household names, but together they were responsible for "The Best Things in Life Are Free" and "The Varsity Drag"--two of the best-known songs of the 1920s. Both derive from their college football show, Good News, which was first heard in 1927. This more recent recording is based on a short-lived Broadway revival in the 1970s when the book underwent a complete revision and additional songs were added.
