Double bill of children's fantasy adventures based on the novel by Michael Ende. In 'The Neverending Story' (1984) a withdrawn, bookish boy called Bastian (Barret Oliver), frightened by his bullying schoolmates and an impending test, steals a mysterious book and reads it in the school attic. He finds himself drawn into the story's fantasy world as Atreyu (Noah Hathaway) attempts to save the Childlike Empress (Tami Stronach) from an evil force. However, it soon becomes clear that Bastian is the hero needed to save Fantasia from destruction. In 'The Neverending Story 2' (1990) Bastian (Jonathan Brandis) is still in the world of Fantasia, this time intent on saving its Childlike Empress from the evil sorceress Xayide (Clarissa Burt).
