DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the long-awaited debut album of Italy's INTO DARKNESS, Route to the Other Side, on CD and vinyl LP formats. Italy's INTODARKNESS have been a work in progress since their formation in 2011. Led by vocalist / guitarist Doomed Warrior from the very beginning, the band released a handful of demos, a couple splits, and a couple EPs during their first decade of existence. While all short-lengths, they certainly did not lack in quality. As time (and lineups) went on, INTO DARKNESS' primary influences ' equally early Asphyx and Soulburn, Pentacle, Sinister, Gorefest, Dead Head, Phlebotomized, Acrostichon, and Thanatos among others ' came more sharply into focus, aligning reverently within old-school Dutch death metal in style but with a unique lyrical focus: divulgative astronomy. Not astrology, not sci-fi, no Lovecraft ' only and specifically divulgative astronomy, maybe poetically but definitely realistically. Now, at long last, INTO DARKNESS are prepared to unleash their debut album. Tellingly titled Route to the Outer Side, the Italians' first full-length is a concept record about the outer solar system, which still considers Pluto as a planet and also includes Halley's Comet. As a power-trio, they unload a twisted, hulking mass of DEATH METAL ' dark, doomed, but not without a special spark of astral atmosphere. Mind you, INTO DARKNESS still don't do sci-fi or spacey death metal; rather, the sweeping songwriting that overtakes the listener with an energetic-yet-patient pace spells out in subtler terms the band's lyrical conceits. Put another way, they show you rather than tell you about the vast, ominous majesty of space, leaving behind cliché sonic signifiers in favor of timeless death metal songcraft. Nevertheless, the trio possess prodigious chops, and are unafraid to often put them in service of the song ' but when framed within the album's powerful & professional production, it all feels exceptionally organic and far from flashy. Die italienische Band INTO DARKNESS befindet sich seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2011 in ständiger Weiterentwicklung. Unter der Leitung von Sänger und Gitarrist Doomed Warrior, der von Anfang an dabei war, veröffentlichte die Band in den ersten zehn Jahren ihres Bestehens eine Handvoll Demos, einige Split-Alben und ein paar EPs. Auch wenn es sich dabei um kurze Veröffentlichungen handelte, mangelte es ihnen keineswegs an Qualität. Im Laufe der Zeit (und mit wechselnden Besetzungen) traten die primären Einflüsse von INTO DARKNESS ' gleichermaßen frühe Asphyx und Soulburn, Pentacle, Sinister, Gorefest, Dead Head, Phlebotomized, Acrostichon und Thanatos unter anderem ' immer deutlicher in den Vordergrund und fügten sich stilistisch ehrfürchtig in den Old-School-Dutch-Death-Metal ein, jedoch mit einem einzigartigen lyrischen Schwerpunkt: populärwissenschaftliche Astronomie. Keine Astrologie, kein Sci-Fi, kein Lovecraft ' nur und ausschließlich populärwissenschaftliche Astronomie, vielleicht poetisch, aber definitiv realistisch. Nun sind INTO DARKNESS endlich bereit, ihr Debütalbum zu veröffentlichen. Das bezeichnenderweise Route to the Outer Side betitelte erste Album der Italiener ist ein Konzeptalbum über das äußere Sonnensystem, das Pluto noch immer als Planeten betrachtet und auch den Halleyschen Kometen einbezieht. Als Power-Trio entfesseln sie eine verdrehte, wuchtige Masse an DEATH METAL ' düster, doomig, aber nicht ohne einen besonderen Funken astraler Atmosphäre. Wohlgemerkt: INTO DARKNESS machen nach wie vor keinen Sci-Fi- oder Spacey-Death-Metal; vielmehr verdeutlicht das mitreißende Songwriting, das den Hörer mit einem energiegeladenen und doch geduldigen Tempo überrollt, auf subtilere Weise die lyrischen Konzepte der Band. Anders ausgedrückt: Sie zeigen einem die unermessliche, bedrohliche Erhabenheit des Weltraums, anstatt davon zu erzählen, und lassen klischeehafte klangliche Zeichen zugunsten zeitloser Death-Metal-Songkunst hinter sich. Dennoch verfügt das Trio über außergewöhnliches Können und scheut sich nicht, dieses oft in den Dienst des Songs zu stellen ' doch eingebettet in die kraftvolle und professionelle Produktion des Albums wirkt das Ganze außergewöhnlich organisch und alles andere als protzig. Eine kreative, leidenschaftliche Vision, die über ihre charakteristische Hommage an den klassischen niederländischen Death Metal hinausgewachsen ist: INTO DARKNESS sind endlich angekommen.
