Live at Rockpalast

ROCKPALAST is a legendary live music TV show hosted in Germany by the WDR channel. It was first broadcast in 1974 and has become a pan-European television institution. It has its own fan club and online forum, and in almost four decades, it has become a trademark of quality viewing and listening.
W illy DeVille made his name fronting US new wave band Mink DeVille between 1975-1986. He was best known for the 1977 UK Top 20 hit Spanish Stroll.
DeVille was always most popular in Europe and often recorded there. He also wrote material with legendary American songsmith Doc Pomus (of Pomus & Shuman fame) taking inspiration from classic R&B songs.
This DVD+CD release combines the Rockpalast show in 2008 with a bonus DVD of the 1995 set, with Willy on top form in both concerts.
The 2008 show at Bonns Museumsplatz features songs from his final album Pistola, of which the New Musical Express proclaimed; DeVille's louche fusion of rock'n'roll, Tex-Mex and country styles has matured with age, and his most recent work is among the finest of his recording career.
The 1995 show, in Bonns Biskuithalle, features Willy on slide guitar and mixes current solo work with highlights from past works.
