"Hotspot" wurde größtenteils in Berlin und Los Angeles geschrieben und aufgenommen und von Stuart Price gemixt und produziert. Es enthält zehn brandneue Tennant/Lowe Songs inklusive der bereits veröffentlichten Single "Dreamland" featuring Years & Years sowie den neuen Track "Burning The Heather", in dem Bernard Butler Gitarre spielt. Pet Shop Boys sagen: "We've written much of our music over the last ten years in Berlin and it was an exciting experience to work on this album in the legendary Hansa studios there and add a new dimension to our sound." Das Album ist das dritte in der Reihe der PSB Alben, die von Stuart Price produziert wurden und folgt auf "Electric" (2013) und "Super" (2016). Das Duo wird außerdem zum ersten Mal auf Greatest Hits Tour gehen und die Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live Tour im Mai/Juni 2020 in UK und Europa performen. Die Tour beginnt am Freitag, den 1. Mai in der Berliner Mercedes Benz Arena und führt PSB quer durch Europa und UK.
