Michael Schonwandt is the conductor in this Royal Danish Opera premiere of Paul Ruders' opera, based on Lars von Trier's film 'Dancer in the Dark'. The story follows the tragic tale of Selma, a poor factory worker with failing eyesight who sacrifices her life to ensure that her son receives an eye operation. The cast is lead by Ylva Kihlberg in the title role.
