His Six Sonatas for Two Flutes, Op. 2, TWV 40:101-106 (1726) offer a prime example of his creativity and versatility, with their ingenious fusion of older contrapuntal techniques and the emerging galant style, as well as their subtle blend of Italian, French and German influences.
