The quintet was defined exactly like this:"supergroup". There was Danilo Rea at thepiano, who for jazz music had given up hisambition of becoming a classical music concertperformer to follow me with the New Perigeo,Roberto Gatto who ensured a dynamic andmodern drumming, Paolo Fresu who was still atthe beginning, but who was already one of thebest trumpeters among the youngsters. With mymusic, from a certain point of view, Paolo wasmoving into a new territory for him. Then therewas Massimo Urbani on alto sax who had beenan enfant prodige of Italian jazz. I had playedand experimented with him a lot over the years.I played live with this quintet for quite sometime. We then arrived at the time of therecording that we were a close-knit group
