Insegnatemi a Morire: Antonio Cesti Cantatas

Obwohl Antonio Cesti (1623-1669) dem Franziskaner-Orden angehörte, begann er sich ab ca. 1642 der Oper zuzuwenden. Seine Erfolge als Sänger und Komponist für die Bühnen in Florenz, Innsbruck und Wien brachten ihm allerdings 1659 eine Vorladung nach Rom ein, die aber für seine musikalische Karriere offenbar weitgehend folgenlos bleiben sollte. Neben seinen beliebten Opern entstanden auch zahlreiche reizvolle Kammerkantaten auf Texte von Giovanni Filippo Apolloni, einem Freund und Landsmann des Komponisten, die hier vom Ensemble Il Zabaione Musicale vorgestellt werden.
