The service started in Brisbane in 2007 specifically for the aged and residents of aged care homes. Dame Vera Lynn is the Patron of Silver Memories. Silver Memories plays music from the 1920s to the early 1960s as well as old radio serials, old time comedy and features on the great stars of the past of stage and screen. University research has shown that listening to Silver Memories has beneficial effects for older listeners.
