Zijn invloed op countrymuzikanten als Merle Haggard, John Anderson, George Strait en Randy Travis is groot geweest. Hij is opgenomen in zowel de Country Music Hall of Fame als de Nashville Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Op deze uitstekend klinkende JSP-box staan opnames uit de jaren 50. In 1951 had Frizell maar liefst vier platen tegelijkertijd in de Billboard Country Top 10 en leek al snel dezelfde hoogten te bereiken als Hank Williams. Helaas waren er diverse praktische redenen waarom dat niet gebeurde, maar aan zijn talent lag het in elk geval niet!
