Bach's Coffeehouse

„Bach’s Coffeehouse“ enthält Aufnahmen des Ensembles Apollo’s Fire mit Repertoire, das vermutlich im Zimmermannschen Kaffeehaus in Leipzig aufgeführt wurde. Kaffeehäuser waren damals in Mode, Zentren für Geselligkeit und musikalische Soireen. Bach konnte sich von seinen offiziellen Pflichten als Kantor erholen, indem er in dem florierenden Kaffeehaus informelle Konzerte veranstaltete. Neben dem Brandenburgischen Konzert Nr. 4 und dem Doppelkonzert für Oboe und Violine dem berühmten Air aus der Orchestersuite Nr. 3 erklingen Telemanns schwungvolle Don-Quichotte-Suite und Vivaldis feurige La Folia.
