Plan 9 from Outer Space

Despite being voted 'the worst film ever made', Edward D Wood Jr's micro-budget 1950s science fiction epic continues to delight its fans and confound its critics. Inimitably written and directed by indefatigable independent filmmaker Wood, this self-proclaimed masterpiece tells the strange tale of alien invaders piloting flimsy flying saucers on a muddled-up mission to resurrect earth's dead. Opportunistically juxtaposing pre-existing footage of a recently deceased Bela (Dracula) Lugosi with new scenes featuring Wood's friends, business associates, Hollywood has-beens and hangers-on, amidst a claustrophobic cemetery-set crammed with cardboard tombstones, Plan 9 occupies a unique cinematic space. It's a dream-realm where ineptitude and inspiration collide; where conventional criticism - as well as time, space and logic - no longer rule supreme. Can you prove it didn't happen?
