Label of the Month: 6 Must-Have Blu-rays & 4K Releases From Radiance Films
03 February, 2026Alex LeptosRadiance Films have earned a loyal following for beautifully restored Blu-ray and 4K releases from across global cinema- they are quickly becoming one of the most exciting boutique labels in physical media. From cult favourites and crime classics to overlooked international gems, let’s dive into what's coming over the next couple of months from Radiance- our Collector’s Label of the Month!
The Japanese Godfather Trilogy (Limited Edition)
The Japanese Godfather Trilogy (which is its official title, and no- it has no connection to the Francis Ford Coppola movies) delivers a sprawling yakuza epic spanning three films that capture the rise and evolution of the Nakajima crime syndicate in 1970s Japan. From director Sadao Nakajima and featuring legendary actors like Koji Tsuruta, Bunta Sugawara and Sonny Chiba, this richly detailed Blu-ray box set gives collectors a first-time-ever-on-Blu-ray gangster saga rarely seen in the West. It includes bonus footage, archival interviews, and reversible artwork with a deluxe booklet.
The Stunt Man (UHD + Blu-ray Limited Edition)
The Stunt Man is directed by Richard Rush and stars Peter O’Toole in a wildly inventive meta-adventure about illusion, danger and… *squints eyes*… cinema itself. A fugitive stumbles onto a film set and finds himself as the title character’s stunt double, agreeing to perform a series of increasingly dangerous stunts which results in a series of near-fatal sequences. Kind of like Final Destination if Final Destination was funny (or funnier). Radiance’s 4K restoration elevates the film in a big way- with bonus features including a feature-length making-of documentary, deleted scenes, interviews, commentaries, poster, postcards and a 40-page book.
Confessions of a Police Captain (Limited Edition)
Set in Sicily, Damiano Damiani’s Confessions of a Police Captain is a hard-hitting narrative that follows a, well, police captain played by Martin Balsam as he becomes entangled in an assassination plot that exposes corruption and the moral complexity of justice. It’s blends noir and sociopolitical commentary and certainly deserves a spot in any serious crime collection. Radiance’s edition boasts all the great things that Radiance editions usually boast- interviews, booklet and a reversible sleeve with artwork based on the original film posters.
The Dancing Hawk (Limited Edition)
Radiance’s selection often champions overlooked gems, and The Dancing Hawk is a perfect example. Inspired in part by Citizen Kane, this Polish drama by Grzegorz Królikiewicz follows a peasant’s son who rises through the ranks of post-war Polish society like none of his ancestors ever could. It examines the cost of leaving one’s roots behind, and ponders the question of whether getting ahead costs him his soul. With stunning visuals from cinematographer Zbigniew Rybczyński and a thoughtful narrative about ambition, Radiance’s 4K restoration includes exclusive booklet with new critical writing, plus interviews, reversable sleeve and two short additional short films by Rybczynski.
Underworld Chronicles: Three Yakuza Fables by Takashi Miike (Limited Edition)
Underworld Chronicles delivers a trio of yakuza films from one of modern cinema’s boldest voices: Takashi Miike. Widely known for horrors Audition and Ichii the Killer. This set showcases the filmmaker’s crime stories with Fudoh: The New Generation, Agitator and Deadly Outlaw: Rekka- showcasing Miike’s stylistic range from anarchic teen violence to operatic revenge sagas. Radiance’s edition is loaded with newly filmed interviews, multiple audio commentaries, and archival content, making it a rich deep-dive into Miike’s filmmaking.
Cutter’s Way (4K UHD + Blu-ray LE)
A beloved American neo-noir classic by Ivan Passer, Cutter’s Way stars Jeff Bridges and John Heard in a conspiracy tale that’s rich with mystery, character study and plenty of drama. Radiance’s 4K restoration brings new life to this under-appreciated gem with both UHD and Blu-ray discs. The special features on this one is a treasure-trove that includes multiple commentary tracks, a feature-length documentary on the film’s legacy, extensive archival and new interviews with cast and crew, an isolated score track, archival introductions by Jeff Bridges and legendary French filmmaker, screenwriter, and film historian Bertrand Tavernier. Plus trailers, and a reversible sleeve with original and newly commissioned artwork.
This mix of crime sagas, international cinema, cult classics and auteur showcases really captures Radiance’s diversity and dedication to cinematic excellence!
