Until now, the corsair raid on Iceland has remained largely unknown in the English speaking world. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTo give a clearer sense of the extraordinary events connected with that raid, this edition of \u003cem\u003eThe Travels\u003c\/em\u003e includes not only Reverend Ólafur’s first-person narrative but also a wealth of contemporary letters describing both the events of the raid itself and the conditions in North Africa under which the enslaved Icelanders lived.
