When Fletcher misses Max's fifth birthday party, Max makes a wish that his dad will stop lying for a whole day. The wish is immediately put into practice and Fletcher finds himself thrown into turmoil as his reliance on fibbing as a way of life becomes painfully apparent. In 'The Cable Guy' (1996) Steven Kovacks (Matthew Broderick) is undergoing a trial separation from his girlfriend and has just moved into a new apartment. He is so lonely he bribes the cable TV guy, Chip (Carrey), to give him all the movie channels for a cut price.
