The pieces specifically intended for solo clarinet are Song 12, Marrngu, Uzundara, Cirit, and Kölner Klarinette; Finnissy’s only piece (so far) intended from the beginning specifically for the duo of clarinet and piano is Clarinet Sonata. Religion was originally sketched without its clarinet part; Einfältiger Liederkreis was always intended to be additionally suitable for violin. Runnin’ Wild was conceived for tenor saxophone, and premiered on oboe. Maat Strikt originated as a work for unspecified soloist and accompanying ensemble. Mankind ReMix I was extracted from the clarinet part of Mankind, a theatre work for voices and small ensemble.
