Lost On The Hill (03:51) Fruit of friendship and creative complicity between Maxime Richard (guitar, vocals) and Dorian Lahais-Cazalé (drums, vocals), The Spitters was born in 2013 on the benches of a Toulon college. The young pair of musicians tried various records, made the big gap between the Beatles, the Pixies and Jay Reatard and lays the foundations of the band's identity without knowing it too much. For the next 10 years, the Spitters (now completed by Barny on guitar and Sloog on bass) followed the albums (2014, 2016, 2018, 2022) and multiplied tours all over Europe, passing through some prestigious festivals (Hellfest Open Air, Pointu Festival, Cosmic Trip, TINALS). And gradually settled as an essential formation in the garage\/punk scene in France. The meeting with the English Bad Nerves during a concert in Paris in October 2023 marks a turning point for the band. So in the composition phase, the Toulonnais decided to call on Mike Curtis (the originator of Bad Nerves' recordings) to mix their fifth album. Fed as much of punk influences (The Damned, Buzzcocks) as well as more contemporary references (Stiff Richards, Wine Lips), \"Fake Brutal\" is above all the result of a perpetual quest for sound and melodic efficiency, begun a decade earlier. Thirteen tracks with unstoppable riffs, shipped without loss of pace or downtime and sublimated by the work of Mike Curtis, supported by Christian Wright of Abbey Road Studios for mastering. The quartet also takes advantage of this new album to try to reverse the now classic expectation of an immediate surge of fun, to which they have accustomed their audience. Fake Brutal addresses more introspective and complex themes than in the past, such as the superficiality of social relations or the trivialization of violence in a society that is losing its bearings. A critical look at a world in crisis, which seeks to offer itself a glimmer of hope in the midst of chaos. Recorded by Fabien Camoin, mixed by Mike Curtis (Bad Nerves) and mastered by Christian Wright of Abbey Road (Fontaines D.C., Blur, Franz Ferdinand…).
