From 1963 to 1983, Jack Lang directed a world-famous festival that invited the avant-garde in theatre, dance and perfor-mance. This was to have a lasting impact on the music, film, visual arts and per-formance art produced by Nancy artists.A \"Do It Yourself\" movement, characterised by a near-equal presence of chicks as energetic as they were active and inspired, grew unbridled.An original sound travelling between no wave, cold wave, industrial music and punk in the vanguard of the explosion of electronic music to come was born.
