It’s his fastest version and maybe his best Ninth Symphony and in any case the most convincing one. It is characterized by a rather lively tempo, a second movement with thundering timpani and a raging beginning of the fourth movement. Among the soloists the soprano Elsie Morison whom Kubelik will marry a few years later.
