A new album recorded, mixed and produced by yours truly- Andrew J. Anthony. The singer, song writer is my friend Cal Paul Buckles. We created this album over the last six months as time allowed. It is an acoustic CD. Cal sings and plays a variety of acoustic guitars. I, along with the help of Cal put together a few sonic goodies in the form of sound scapes, sound effects, and software instrument orchestration (violins, violas, cellos, and whistles ). We also recorded a real violinist Cal knows. Her name is Deb Switzer. It's quite a sonic delight. As with all original music, familiarity breeds acceptance, so give it a chance and listen to the previews a few times. It may grow on you. If you like it, it can be purchased rather inexpensively at CD Baby-$ 5.00 download $ 6.98 disc. Check it out. You won't be disappointed. I promise. A few notes about the songs: 1. Immune to Success -is a melancholy song. A thunderstorm landscapes the background as Cal sings about the experience of a cold wet day contemplating the struggle of achieving success after a life of pursuing achievement and acceptance. Many exemplary sound effect and an eerie background whisper that speaks like that voice in the back of our head. Quite a 'visual' song. You do have a voice in the back of your head, don't you? I do. Sometimes. 2. Whenever- has a haunting melody, harmonics, and harmonies. Also experience based. It speaks to me of the cyclic thinking that occurs after the occurrences of some events in life. 3. Whistles on top- This song made me think of an Irishman or Scotsman walking down a cobblestone lane with large stone buildings about that have large metal-strapped and riveted wooden doors so I added the Irish whistles to give it that flavor. I also created a version that has bagpipes along with the whistles but it didn't quite make the cut on the official CD. In my mind I could almost hear a bagpipe player way off in the distance, high on a hill. If you listen closely maybe you can hear him too. 4. III- The name III-Roman numeral three- doesn't have anything to do with the songs lyrics. III think it was the 3rd song Cal wrote for this project. The stanzas aren't complete so you can add your own words and meanings. The guitar has a harpsichord\/dulcimer sound to it. The jets at the end fly you off into the ----. 5. The Visitor (A Moment in Time)- is a song about enjoying a hot cup of coffee when an uninvited visitor comes to the door and interrupts the tranquility of the morning. A tumultuous furvor of brain activity occurs until the visitor continues on his way. Peaceful contemplation- and coffee-ensue. Orchestration helps demonstrate internal thought activity. Enjoy.
