The advantages of Passive Direct Attach Copper (DAC) cables over Fibre Optic and RJ45 cables Direct Attach Copper (DAC) cables are becoming increasingly in demand in the network industry. Our passive SFP+ 10G DAC Twinax cable is an inexpensive alternative to RJ45 and fiber optic cables, with energy efficiency and low latency. It is an excellent choice for structured wiring over short distances between switches and routers on one side as well as servers and storage on the other, be it in Top of Rack (ToR), Adjacent Rack, 10G Stacking Switches or similar applications. No heat generation and suitable for extreme ambient temperatures - ideal for data centers SFP+ DAC consists of twinaxial copper cable that has been placed on SFP+ connectors at both ends and provides an electronic connection directly into the active components. Due to its thermal design, this passive cable consumes less than 0.15 W, which reduces your power consumption and thus your costs. As it does not produce heat, it is significantly more versatile, even at extreme ambient temperatures up to 70 °C, which in turn makes it particularly valuable for data centres. Cheaper and easier to use than fiber optic DAC wiring has a comparatively simple internal structure with fewer components than fiber optic cables. This cable structure allows for the lower purchase price and also saves you the purchase of separate GBIC transceivers. This in turn makes it easier to use as you need to match fewer components. When storing used cables, unlike fibreglass, you need to pay less attention to testing and cleaning before inserting them again. When you upgrade your network or replace individual parts, the cable's hot swapping capability ensures seamless transition. Just note that passive DAC cables are not suitable for long-distance use - their transmission range is limited to 7 metres. Lower latency than RJ45 twisted pair patch cables. Like "regular" Cat6a and Cat7 copper cable, this Direct Attach Copper Twinax cable allows data transfer up to 10 Gbps, but its unique structure and data transfer ensures a lower lat Please note: this passive SFP+ 10G DAC Twinax cable is designed, programmed and tested for use with HP®/HPE® switches and routers. Passive Direct Attach Copper (DAC) Twinax cable for low-latency energy-saving connections. Compatible with switches and routers from HPE (Hewlett Packard Enterprise). Two SFP+ connectors for data transfer rates up to 10 Gbps. Complies with HPE X242 DAC cable series. Significantly lower power consumption and price than fibre optic cables. Lower signal latency than RJ45 connections. Easier to use than cables in optical transceivers as fewer components must match. Passive DAC as an ideal option in structured wiring for short-distance applications up to to 7 m to 7 m Heat generation, suitable for high ambient temperatures up to 70°C. Hot-swappable, for network upgrades or replacement with seamless transition
