And that seems to be James' main problem: the fact that they've managed to be so damn popular without getting their approval first. This is, undoubtedly, a singles band, not a clever tortured soul whining about his troubles, but the kind of music people enjoy with the sun baking down on their heads at festivals, as the lukewarm lager starts to take effect. "Born Of Frustration", even with its bizarre almost-yodelling, has that crowd-binding quality James are so good at. They're never going to set the world on fire, but that's not the point. They just want to be dancing (in Tim Booth's freaky electrocution-jig style) along with everyone else. --Emma Johnston

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0092/7504/8033/files/orig_1303952_1317160_20241219090610.jpg?v=1779845695
