In an unashamed attempt to be taken seriously, poppy-Nelly Furtado-style guitar/rock tunes replace the familiar dance numbers of old. Produced in collaboration with The Cardigans's Peter Svensson and Joakim Bergwith from the band Kent, Titiyo's soulful voice matches the new style instrumentation perfectly. Unfortunately the experimental (and commercial) drive to switch genres didn't result in much experimentation between songs. Opening with the brilliantly catchy title track, the impact of "Come Along" is soon lost, as virtually all of the other songs have similarly sounding choruses. "1989" does provide a brief foray into something a bit more alternative, with the introductory bars ironically threatening to launch into The Smashing Pumpkins "1979". From the squeaky strings at the start, the haunting "Last Time" is also something a bit different. On this track and on others such as "Right or Wrong", Titiyo's vocals sound a cross between Des'ree's and Tori Amos's. Although an admirable career move for such a long-established singer to make, perhaps next time she's best recommended to return to the musical style she does best.--John Galilee

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0092/7504/8033/files/orig_13064283_19674546_20241209084113.jpg?v=1733816460
