Getting It On Featuring Azeem Amazon.co.uk Through a number of compilation appearances and singles, Only Child has always given the impression of being a multi-person project--a full-on band of funksters and r\u0026amp;b divas, the All Saints of the Grand Central Records-set. But Only Child is just one man, Justin Crawford, a multi-talented type who calls upon a crew of vocalists (rappers Kriminul and Azeem, singer Siron and a judicious use of a Sarah Vaughan sample) to augment his own soulful compositions. Picking up where the Brand New Heavies left off, Crawford (who also has plenty of DJ experience) crafts soulful dancefloor-ready tracks; paralleling Heavy Rhyme Experience, Vol. 1 , he also works with underrated rappers, and inspires them to their best work (especially with Kriminul on the mesmerizingly smooth \"Crazy Rhymin'\" and the Vaughan-sampling \"I've Got a Right\"). That's not to say the instrumental track suffer--without a partner, Crawford digs deeper into his bag of tricks and comes up with seven tracks where the vocalist is never missed, so judicious is his use of samples, cues and rhythms.
