The band, formed in 2010, has already had two successful tours, and held the first-ever Native Jazz Workshop this year at the Sitka Fine Arts Campus in Sitka, Alaska. The Quartet also just recorded their debut CD, available Spring 2013. The band is a hard-swinging and high energy performance act based on the swing\/bebop tradition, using only native\/folk melodies in their arrangements. The goal of this new Quartet is to grow the Native Jazz movement and to attract an national and international audience of all ages. Everyone in the band represents a different culture: Ed Littlefield is Alaska Native\/Tlingit, Reuel Lubag is Filipino, Jason Marsalis is African American\/ New Orleans and Christian Fabian is Swedish\/German. The Native Jazz Quartet is an exciting new band, with an exciting new message that turns performances into cultural stories and standingovations. Last yearÕs tour was amazing for the Quartet and the audiences. Every venue they booked for the last two years has requested they come back. Band members and audiences alike were very excited by the power of Native\/Jazz fusion.
