It has been staged in 145 cities across 27 countries and has been seen by over 130 million people, its box office sales eclipse Avatar, Titanic and Star Wars and the original cast recording album remains one of the biggest selling music titles of all time. To celebrate its 25th Anniversary year, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh presented The Phantom Of The Opera in a fully-staged, lavish production, set in the sumptuous Victorian splendour of the Royal Albert Hall. The spectacular event, a once in a lifetime performance anniversary of the world’s greatest musical, brought together a cast and orchestra of 200 led by Ramin Karimloo (The Phantom) and Sierra Boggess (Christine), both of whom were returning to roles for which they received international critical acclaim. They most recently shared the stage as ‘The Phantom’ and ‘Christine’ in the West End production of Love Never Dies. The live, sell-out performance marked the climax of a three performance, gala production at the Royal Albert Hall that reunited original leads Michael Crawford (The Phantom) and Sarah Brightman (Christine Daae), in a memorable final curtain call. The anniversary performance achieved record breaking success at the box office; screened live across 255 cinemas by Universal Pictures on 2nd October, the cinema release of the special 25th anniversary performance at London’s legendary Royal Albert Hall grossed an estimated $3,500,000 globally and $1,000,000 in one evening in the UK alone. The turnout saw the show achieve the biggest daily and biggest lifetime result for any non-feature film big screen release in the UK to date. The success of this weekend’s performances and cinema release are just the latest in a whole host of feats for the unstoppable powerhouse production. The production, which sold 15,000 tickets in just 5 hours, continues to reign supreme at London’s Her Majesty’s Theatre and has to date been seen by 130 million people in 27 countries in 145 cities around the world. With an estimated gross of $5.6 billion worldwide – more than any film or stage play in history, including Avatar, Titanic, E.T. and Star Wars.In a night to remember, the special show streamed live via satellite to cinemas across the globe, bringing audiences to their feet for standing ovations. Showings in the UK saw the film leap to No. 1 on 2nd October and No. 3 in the total weekend box office chart, a result particularly notable given that the broadcast was limited to 255 screens. The epic performance was captured for fans wishing to indulge in the magic on Universal UK DVD, Blu-ray™, CD and download, and will be released on Monday 14th November.

https://www.rarewaves.com/products/0602527844916-andrew-lloyd-webbers-the-phantom-of-the-opera-at-the-albert-hall
