Also included is unreleased tracks from Mindy Smith, Nina Persson, Fruit Bats and more.

REVIEW
A mix of dusty classics, hidden indie treasures, and a handful of new tracks, the soundtrack to Our Idiot Brother is a well constructed album that delivers on the feel good acoustic bliss you expect given the goofy hippie look of Paul Rudd on the cover. Fruit Bats' Eric D. Johnson looms large, with several pieces of score for the film squeezed between the songs, three great tracks of his own, and an unreleased Fruit Bats tune. Johnson's charming, chime-filled take on the Dawn and Tony Orlando folk classic "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree" is a bright, jangling treat, while his sizzling tenor and twangy guitar sparking through "2 Roadrunners" sound great.

Johnson's pairing with Nathan Larson and The Cardigans' Nina Persson on the quaint ballad "Cowboys And Hobos" is laid-back country cool at its best, sounding every bit as timeless as the old Willie Nelson tunes spread through the album. The easy going shuffle and chilled harmonies of Fruit Bats' "Lightning Bug" and gorgeous lap steel infused "The Things You Lost" from El May stroll out of the speakers beautifully. The absolutely adorable acoustic breeze of Mindy Smith and Daniel Tashian's "Taking You With Me" delivers the love struck tone of the lyrics amazingly well.

Though already released, the underappreciated Generationals' "When They Fight, They Fight" is a lo-fi indie pop gem, ripe with clapped beat, frantic pop bottle rhythm, jangling piano, and the occasional horn flare-up. Similarly unheralded, Thao With The Get Down Stay Down's bouncy piano-driven "Cool Yourself" maintains the album's tone with itchy riffs and a searing tenor vocal that make it irresistible. This expertly crafted album is an absolute delight, delivering feel good, country speckled indie thrills from start to finish. -- Chad Grischow, IGN Music, September 1, 2011
